Compensation Change - AndyP - 11-18-2012

Here is what compensation will now look like:

1. Jhc's formula determines eligibility.

2. If you release the player for comp, you must offer fallback. Fallback will be 80% of the player's previous salary.

3. Any compensated player who signs for 10M or more annually or a total contract of more than 40M would achieve Type A status and the releasing team will draft between the 1st and 2nd round.

If the player signs for less than 10M annually and their contract's total is less than 40M they will automatically be a Type B and the releasing team's comp pick will be between the 2nd and 3rd round.

4. Order of comp choices in each comp round will be determined by total contract value.

Hopefully this eliminates the Rich Thompson scenario.

Qualifying offers if player goes unsigned?

The qualifying offer you gave at the start to get compensation is what they earn if they go unsigned. They return to your team at that salary.

I would also like to make it known that the draft class talent will no longer be what it has been so far on 2013. It has been highly inflated and we will be returning to the talent levels we were accustomed to seeing on 2011.
