RE: Detroit Releases - Atlbravesfan27 - 09-01-2011

The Detroit tigers will release Cody Johnson, we have been in contact with Mr. Boras and worked out a release payment of $20M.

Here is our exchanges:

Atlbravesfan27 Wrote:Mr. Boras,

Detroit management was looking over their roster for the upcoming season and Cody Johnson continuously came up in discussions. We were referred to you by league Commissioner(DJ) to approach you about a possible buyout. Cody is signed for 3 more seasons at 10M per season. With the injury bug effecting him heavily, his production, health and overall playing skills(vitals) have diminished significantly since signing this contract and Cody will get very little playing time in the future, if any. Is there a cash deal we could workout so we can both part ways and both be happy?

Sincerely,

DET Management

Boras:
We will cut you the following deal, we will drop the payments down to 8M for the remaining 3 years of the contract. Or we will take a 1 time payment this season in the amount of 20M.
