Proposal: Modify the tanking penalty for not achieving 50 wins.
Solution: Move the offending team's draft pick from #1 to #10, removing WB ban and cash wipe.
PR lost ~$95 million with the latest punishment. There’s a multitude of factors that could lead the next person to losing $0 or $200 million in mogul dollars. There is also plenty of room for shenanigans (ie – I know I wont hit 50 wins so take on bad contracts, trade my cash for picks, etc). Removing the cash penalty standardizes the severity across the board.

Removes ambiguity

Similar to the last line above – removes all ambiguity. PR stopped paying attention last season. Hick/Rhen tried their hardest and only hit 50 with the help of a re-sim. Setting a consistent measurement takes any sort of headache away from Andy in deciding who tried and who didn’t.

One year punishment

The ambiguity was helpful for those that truly didn’t intend to hit sub-50. Making it a 1 year penalty lessens the blow for those that weren’t true scumbags.

Andy doesn’t have to track winterball bans. It’s a one-and-done penalty.

So, from time-to-time, we've talked about how it'd be cool to win some real money in FCM. Well, here's your chance! First, I want to stress that this is optional. If you want to play for pay and gamble on winning some money, you can. If not, cool.

In the Excel file, you'll find my initial proposal. The system based on percentages, so it fluctuates for an even distribution. Andy gets 20% of the pot for his time spent both running the sims and handling the money. The remaining 80% gets paid out to the playoff teams. Obviously, the further you go, the more you make. In the 27 team example of the Excel file a World Series winner would win $87, assuming they have won their division (netting $77).

I went for the style as if this is how it's going to be (i.e. I said Venmo, but doesn't have to be Venmo). I tried to think it being fair, worth it, and avoid people gaming the system. Any comments, questions, concerns? I'm all in for trying to make this work.

I've asked Andy if I can have a file (speficially the 2131 opening day file) with only the sim password removed. He agreed on the condition that I post my findings.

What am I trying to find? I'm curious to see what Mogul does to pitching staffs that employ Openers instead of true Starters. I will be using my team (Cleveland) and tinkering with the Pitch Limits to see if using a starting rotation of Openers is viable or not.

Pitch Limits?
Below is a snapshot of what I normally use versus what I plan to use for the Opener pitching staff.

What changes is that I'll be using a 4-man rotation, which will change the 5th spot to a Mopup role.

1. SPs #1-4 will have low pitch limits. They may be SPs or they may be RPs. The hope is for them to only go 2-3 innings.

2. I am treating the Mopup and Long Relief roles as the same and will have true, traditional SPs in those spots.

3. The Middle Relief role will also have SP, but I'm not as concerned about them having true 70+ SP endurance. The hope is that the Mopup, Long, and Middle relievers will be used to fill in 4-5 innings after the Opener is removed.

4. The Short Relief and Setup roles will not change. They will continue to have the usual 20-something endurance RPs trying to lock down the 7th and 8th innings.

5. The Closer is still the Closer. I'll still have my best traditional RP in this spot with no pitch limit set.

Hey All,

Just wanted to mention something I've done in solo mogul seasons and that is changing the make-up of the league. It is 2115 and other than some relocations things seem to have stayed the same in terms of division make-up (which is totally fine). Not sure if you all have tried to do anything like this in the past or not.

American Division - Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Expos, Blue Jays

National Division - Pirates, Orioles, Nationals, Phillies, Guardians

Patriot Division - Reds, Cubs, White Sox, Tigers, Brewers

Pacific Coast Division - Dodgers, Padres, Giants, Angels, Mariners

Frontier Division - Astros, Rangers, Athletics, Rockies, Diamondbacks

S&S (Sun and Snow) Division - Marlins, Braves, Cardinals, Royals, Twins

It isn't a true east/west split so not sure what you want to call each league. Ruth Division and Robinson Division.

Just some thoughts.
From here on there is only one base cost for stadiums:
- $250M
All of the money would need to be paid upfront. This would also come with no more upgrades to just Convenience, Comfort, Sight Lines. If you want to fix those, build a new stadium.
Notes:
The three all-star breaks are just different options for when it could be. Also, we could choose to have a longer break (4 days) after the last game of the season so teams don't need to sit their starters in order to make sure they will be rested for the playoffs.

EDIT: It's not actually going to play out exactly how I said above because of the odd number of teams in divisional & interleague play. So, for the first 16 Divisional Series whichever team is the off team will face the off team from the other league. So the actual schedule will look more like this...

3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D, 1h1a-I, 3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D, 1h1a-I = 24 Games vs. Division | 4 vs. Interleague
(*!!!*)
3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N = 30 Games vs. Non-Division
3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D = 24 Games vs. Division

Why should we do this?
Every team gets to play each other an even amount of times home & away.

Why shouldn't we do this?
Answer: If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Response: Correct, nothing is broken however I am not trying to fix anything. I am simply proposing an option that I personally think is better.

How are you going to make this schedule?
I'm going to write it myself. I've done it before and there will be no issues with it. Yes, it's a bit time consuming but it's the off-season and I don't mind spending a few hours in order to make this contribution to a league I love.
3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N = 30 Games vs. Non-Division
3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D = 24 Games vs. Division

(*!*) = All-Star Break (84 Games Before ASB, 78 Games After)
(*!!*) = OR - All-Star Break (96 Games Before ASB, 66 Games After)
(*!!!*) = All-Star Break (108 Games Before ASB, 54 Games After)

Interleague
3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N, 3H-N, 3A-N = 30 Games vs. Non-Division
1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I = 22 Games vs. Interleague
(*!*)
3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D, 1h1a-I, 1h1a-I, (*!!*) 3H-D, 3A-D, 3H-D, 3A-D = 24 Games vs.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to check this out.

And was spit-balling pacing for the tournament. The idea would be to have a short podcast previewing the games/reviewing the results. It won't be a long podcast but it would be a regular thing. So I understand if some guys can't join each night but I thought it'd be fun to talk about the teams and make our predictions. Then I post a google form vote and each GM gets one vote to decide winners. Team with the most votes moves on in the bracket. For the final matchup I'd love to do a "Game 7 Commentary" with myself, Jmaine, and Gmoney.

The idea is to look at the matchups, imagine a 7 game series, and who would win that series if it was played 100 times. But I am wide open to suggestions on anything. Enjoy the bracket names! Any feedback or ideas welcome!

It was brought up in the chat and I don't think it's a bad idea to explore. The idea is simple, to no longer allow Comp FAs to immediately be traded if returned. They would be treated like a normal 2 year FA signing and not be eligible to be traded until after Sim 6 (July 1).

Comp fallback contracts have been viewed like arbitration deals, just like Comp FAs were viewed under the old Comp system in real life. With the 2 year contracts that we do, there could certainly be reason to suggest that they shouldn't be able to be traded.

I'm probably not alone in thinking that there's too many unworthy comps made in re-signings in the hopes that someone bails you out with a bid. I think doing this could cut back on a few comp FAs when people know they'd be stuck with the player for at least half a season.

Should we allow the sale of draft lists on the open market? Besides the draft list, there are potential other data sources that could also be sold or created to be sold.
As for draft lists, do they have value? Most people do not share them with others, it is a secret sauce. One drawback to this idea that I can think of right away would be a concern that someone would share the list after purchase. For example, I buy Peters pitching list only to share it with Hokey, would be a dick move - not sure how realistic this scenario would be.
I think we're stable enough to make future draft picks available. I'd propose that following Sim #5, next year's Rounds 1-3 are available to be traded. That's it. Nothing more in the future and it preserves the picks needed to surrender for Comp FAs. We already track draft pick trading over the off-season and this would be no different. I think this would help generate some true trade deadline activity instead of the assumed "June 4th" deadline.

*Waiting until after Sim #5 is on purpose. It wouldn't be a big deal to make the picks available directly following the draft. However, I think it helps with not confusing picks as well as helping with rash decisions and quickly gutting next year's picks.*

I'm not 100% sure where we're at on the Position Change thing. It was talked about banning it, but then allowing it with sanity checks. I don't like the sanity check idea, because it's murky on what's allowed. Is taking a 75 arm, 80 range, 80 field SS to 85, 90, 85 allowed? Would taking an 85 arm, 90 range, 80 field SS to 88, 93, 87 be allowed? I just think the easiest would be to ban the natural position change loophole completely and allow for players to add additional positions through WB.

2B/SS could move to or add the OF (Billy Hamilton, Dee Gordon)
C could move to or add 3B (Carlos Santana)
3B could move to or add LF/RF (Lonnie Chisenhall, Nick Castellanos)

Really anything that makes sense would be considered. It would cost the same as a WB (10M) and use one of the team's WB slots for that season.

Most know that I like to use the Natural Position Change, but I’m willing to see it go, if there’s an acceptable process put in its place. I’d be fine with seeing the Natural PC no longer be allowed, if you can switch a SS or 2B to CF (with LF and RF added as well). It would cost $10M (just like WB) and take up a WB slot. The player’s speed will determine how their new vitals in the OF will look. GMs caught trying the Natural PC will have the PC reversed to the player’s previous Predicteds at the position, be charged $10M, and not allowed to do any WB for the current off-season.

So, how will it be policed? We have enough GMs who go through rosters for tanking and notice PC attempts already. So it’s simply the league’s responsibility to bring it to Andy’s attention and from there it’s a clear-cut right or wrong. So, to recap as if it were a written rule…
Just as a disclaimer -- I'm sure Andy would be making judgement calls for GMs taking over a new team and not being able to reach this tanking win requirement but otherwise this would be the penalty.
